My name is Nina Russo and I am an aspiring photographer. Photography is something I was always interested in but got serious about it in 2008 when I received my first Digital SLR camera as a gift. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion for creating art with my camera. Photographs have always been a cherished possession for me and I want to create these captured memories for others. Right now I am practicing and learning as much as I can. I would love to do a free photo shoot for you or someone you know. Just contact me for more info! (ninaruphoto@gmail.com) Hope you enjoy this little space for me to show off my photos!!

Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse

While checking my e-mail one day I noticed a story about the upcoming lunar eclipse. After finding out there wouldn't be another one like it until 2094, which I won't be able to see unless I find the fountain of youth or get bitten by one of those twilight people, I knew I had to stay up and shoot it. So December 20th rolled around. I got my tripod and my camera and a big cup of Swiss Miss in my favorite thermal cup and went outside to watch the show. I quickly realized I came out wayyyy too early! Strike one. I called up my friend Rachel in North Carolina and we had a phone date while we stared at the sky waiting for something to happen. Then my battery died. Strike two. After running back into the house for my charger and more hot chocolate I retreated to my car and turned up the heat while watching through the sun roof. And then it finally happened. I glanced up and noticed a tiny sliver of the moon was getting darker! After that it all went by really fast. I went back and forth between the car and my lawnchair snapping a shot between each trip. After the moon was about 3/4 gone the red glow started. It was gorgeous and definitely made staying up late worth it! It made me even happier how many friends who missed this beautiful sight got to enjoy my photos. Nothing makes me happier :) If you didn't catch them a few weeks ago I hope you enjoy them now! Happy Winter everyone!!
